About the play
We don’t need each other anymore. And that’s why we need each other more than ever before. The Reumert Award-winning collective Sort Samvittighed (Black Conscience) will restage their performance Sort Samvittighed #4 in May 2026.
A group of explorers set out on an expedition to discover what the world looks like when you travel in a group. They drop into an ordinary life and set to work with curiosity and anthropological interest: how do people live here?
But the expedition becomes complicated. The demands, ideals and fixed ideas of everyday life engulf each of them and put pressure on the community. For how does one be oneself when surrounded by others? What brings us together, and what divides us as human beings? And how does one try to reach out to others from one’s own little house when, for a moment, one has found the community too restrictive?
For 18 years, the nine artists in Sort Samvittighed have created as a group. Under the mantra ‘better too much than too little’, they have set harmonica and signature tears to music for Anne Linnet, Tove Ditlevsen and the ups and downs of relationships. Always with a desire to challenge themselves in new ways. In Sort Samvittighed #4, the collective has for the first time expressed itself in a collage of both its own words and texts by other authors.
