About the play
Your life is about to get better. All it takes is for you to renounce everything you believe in. All your values. Then you can have exactly what you’ve been dreaming of.
Tempted? That’s the case for the scientist Faust in Goethe’s classic tale of our obsession with having it all—whatever the cost. Because even though Faust has everything, life feels meaningless. Something is missing.
So when the devil Mephistopheles offers him unlimited knowledge, power, and freedom in exchange for his soul, he lets himself be tempted.
FAUST is a modern social thriller about morality, greed, and desire.
A critique of our boundless pursuit of owning, optimizing, and controlling everything, no matter the cost.
A new generation of performing artists throws themselves uncompromisingly into both the first and second part of Goethe’s monumental work, which is otherwise rarely performed in its entirety. On stage is a cast of star performers led by Nicolaj Kopernikus as Faust and Thomas Hwan as the devilish tempter Mephisto.
FAUST is directed by Norwegian director Lea Fedida Claussen, who creates theater with nerve, physical intensity, and a sharp eye on the present. She adapts Goethe’s provocative classic about the power of desire together with the young poet, writer, and playwright Elias Sadaq.
